Cowboy Action Shooting

Yup, I've discovered it and now that I've gone through the RPAL course, it's just a matter of time till I pick up some handguns.

Val and I are looking into to it, pricing guns, clothes etc. Currently the plan is for a pair of New Army/Navy 1858 cartridge conversions, in the shortest legal barrel length. Purely to facilitate drawing from the holster, personally I prefer a longer barrel but *shrug*

Character wise, I'm planning of bringing The Dude (aka Jeffery Lebowski) into the 19th century. Fortunately his wardrobe is already pretty basic and he wasn't a man of means so cheap, basic clothes will do nicely.

My stock for the Ranch Hand has arrived, so once the sights get here, it's off to the smith. I'm planning on using it for my CASS rifle and sharing the rounds between it and my 1858's. Anyone with advice, feel free to share.

  1. SAS have started to to remind me of the Society for Creative Anachronism.

That said part of me really wants a single action cowboy style pistol.

  2. they do have a certain charm to them. I'd like to go to blackpowder revolvers but that sounds like a hell of a lot of work.
